Vav-consecutive, also known as waw-consecutive or waw conversive, is a historical Hebrew grammar device used in Biblical Hebrew and related traditions. It involves prefixing the conjunction ו (vav) to a finite verb form in order to alter its aspect and, effectively, the time frame of the action.
