Vastaspool is a large freshwater lake in the northern region of the fictional realm of Eldoria. It lies at high altitude and forms the central hydrological basin for the surrounding districts, feeding rivers that reach both coastal and inland ecosystems.

The name derives from the local language, with vast meaning broad and pool denoting a body of water.

The lake covers an estimated area of several hundred square kilometers and reaches depths of up to over 100 meters in its deepest channels. It is fed primarily by snowmelt from the surrounding highlands and by multiple feeder streams, and it drains via the Lumen River to the southern lowlands.

The Vastaspool watershed supports diverse habitats, including endemic cold-water fish, freshwater mussels, and wetland birds. Seasonal phytoplankton blooms contribute to nutrient cycling, while the shoreline mosaics provide nesting sites for migratory species. Conservation concerns include habitat alteration and invasive species.

In Eldorian folklore, Vastaspool is linked to creation myths and is the setting for the annual Rain Festival, a spring ceremony intended to honor water spirits and ensure a fertile growing season. Historically, the lake served as a transportation corridor and a source of fish and freshwater for inland communities.

Today, Vastaspool is a protected area administered by the Eldorian Conservation Authority. Tourism and guided research are permitted under policy, while commercial fishing is regulated to maintain stocks; small-scale hydroelectric projects were proposed but currently remain limited.
