However, they can be more expensive to operate and maintain due to the need for a continuous supply of liquid and the potential for corrosion and scaling in the scrubber system. Additionally, the liquid used in wet scrubbers can be hazardous to the environment if not properly treated and disposed of.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in developing more environmentally friendly wet scrubbing technologies, such as those that use non-toxic or biodegradable liquids, or that incorporate advanced particle collection methods to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
