utiligita

Utiligita is a word in Esperanto that functions as the past passive participle of the verb utiligi, meaning to utilize or to use. In use, utiligita conveys the sense that something has been used or utilized, and it can serve as an attributive modifier or as part of a passive construction with esti.

In grammar, utiligita can appear in two common ways. As an attributive modifier, it describes a noun to indicate that the object has undergone utilization, for example, la utiligita metodo (the method that has been utilized). In predicative or passive constructions, it forms phrases with esti to express ongoing or completed use, such as La algoritmo estas utiligita por trovi la solvon (The algorithm is used to find the solution) or La raporto priskribas la utiligitan proceduron (The report describes the utilized procedure).

Etymologically, utiligita is derived from the root util- (use, utility) plus the verb-forming suffix -igi to create utiligi, and the past passive participle suffix -ita to yield utiligita. The term is common in technical, scientific, and formal writing where precise reference to actions of using or applying methods, tools, or procedures is needed. In everyday Esperanto, another common past participle for “used” is uzita, which can be preferred for simpler or more neutral contexts; utiligita tends to appear more in formal or specialized texts.
