Urogenitala refers to the group of organs and structures involved in urine production and elimination, together with the genital organs involved in reproduction. In English, the term most commonly used is urogenital or urogenital system. The term emphasizes the anatomical and functional connections between the urinary and reproductive systems, which share embryologic origins and neurovascular supply.

The urinary tract includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. The male reproductive system encompasses the testes, epididymides, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate, penis, and associated ducts and glands. The female reproductive system includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina, and external genitalia. The pelvic floor and supporting ligaments and muscles provide stability and continence for both urinary and genital structures.

Physiology and development: Urine is produced in the kidneys, transported by the ureters, stored in the bladder, and expelled through the urethra. Reproductive organs produce gametes and secrete sex hormones that guide sexual development and fertility. The two systems interact during maturation, with hormones directing the growth of external genitalia and internal reproductive structures.

Clinical relevance: Urogenital health spans specialties such as urology and gynecology. Common conditions affect either or both subsystems, including urinary tract infections, kidney or bladder stones, incontinence, prostatitis or erectile dysfunction, tubo-ovarian disorders, endometriosis, and cancers of the bladder, kidney, prostate, ovary, or uterus. Diagnosis relies on history, examination, imaging, endoscopy, and laboratory tests; management depends on the organ system involved and may include lifestyle changes, medications, or surgery.
