Unprioritized is an adjective used to describe items or data that have not been assigned a priority or ranking within a system. In project and product management, unprioritized work items are tasks, features, or requirements that have not yet been ordered by importance, value, risk, or urgency. They may remain in a backlog or queue awaiting refinement or stakeholder input.

In information technology and software development, unprioritized backlog items lack an explicit order; teams later assign priority to enable planning and resource allocation. In networking and QoS contexts, unprioritized traffic or tasks do not receive specific priority, and are typically treated as best-effort, which can affect latency-sensitive applications.

In data management, unprioritized data may be raw or unlabeled and require curation, tagging, or feature engineering before they can be used for analysis or modeling. The term also implies a temporary state: priorities may emerge as projects evolve or new information becomes available.

Although the term suggests low importance, unprioritized does not necessarily mean unimportant; it indicates an absence of current ranking, not a value judgment. It is commonly contrasted with prioritized, which denotes explicit ordering of items by significance.
