Ugedagsarbejde, literally “weekday work,” is a Danish term used to describe work carried out during standard daytime hours on regular weekdays. In job advertisements and labor-market discussions, it designates work schedules that primarily occur Monday through Friday rather than on weekends or outside daytime hours.

Scope and examples: It typically refers to full-time or part-time employment with daytime shifts, such as office work, public services, and many service-sector roles. It is commonly contrasted with natarbejde (night work) and weekendarbejde (weekend work). Some positions may be described as ugedagsarbejde to indicate a conventional, daytime schedule without night shifts.

Regulation and rights: Working hours and conditions are governed by national labor law and sector-specific agreements. In Denmark and many EU countries, there are limits on weekly hours, minimum rest breaks, and rules on overtime compensation.
