Töölisuhuks is a term originating from the Estonian language, referring to a specific social status or class in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In Estonia, the word "tööline" translates to "worker" or "labourer," and "kas" means "state" or "system." Thus, töölisuhuks can be literally translated to "worker state" or "labourer system."

The concept of töölisuhuks emerged during the_abortive revolutions and attempts to establish a broader left-wing government in Estonia in the early 20th century. It was associated with Marxist-Leninist ideology and envisioned a state where workers and peasants would hold the majority of the power and control key sectors of the economy. In this hypothetical system, the means of production would be owned and controlled by the working class, leading to a more equal distribution of wealth and power.

However, this ideal of a töölisuhuks was deemed unattainable in practice due to the complexities of the existing social and economic structures. The trance of power and the suppression of independent motions stifled the movement. Many Estonian radicals who advocated for a töölisuhuks were banished, imprisoned, or identified. The concept as a possible alternative to the existing social order saw extended use in diaspora and realm contexts, as a source of inspiration rather than practical means of implementing the theories.
