Täyskehyksisiin refers to a type of camera sensor or lens system where the image capture area is equivalent to the size of a standard 35mm film frame. This size, approximately 36mm by 24mm, is considered the "full frame" in digital photography. Cameras utilizing a full-frame sensor are often referred to as full-frame cameras.

The primary advantage of a full-frame sensor is its larger surface area compared to smaller sensors, such as those found in APS-C or Micro Four Thirds cameras. This larger area allows for better light-gathering capabilities, which can result in improved low-light performance and a wider dynamic range. Photographers often appreciate the shallower depth of field that full-frame sensors can produce, making it easier to isolate subjects from their backgrounds.

When using full-frame lenses on a full-frame camera, the lens's focal length is used as is, without any crop factor. This means a 50mm lens on a full-frame camera behaves as a 50mm lens. Conversely, when a lens designed for a smaller sensor format is used on a full-frame camera, it may not cover the entire sensor area, leading to vignetting or requiring a crop mode.

Full-frame cameras and lenses are generally considered professional-grade equipment and tend to be more expensive than their crop-sensor counterparts. However, for many photographers, the image quality, creative control, and performance benefits offered by full-frame systems justify the investment.
