Tworotor is a term used to describe any device or system that employs two rotors as its primary moving elements. It is not tied to a single design, but rather denotes a two-rotor configuration across different domains, including mechanical engineering, aerospace, and cryptography.

In mechanical engineering, a two-rotor arrangement may occur in rotary engines and related mechanisms. Two rotors can share a housing or be mounted on a common shaft, rotating in opposite directions to improve displacement, balance, and torque delivery. The benefits typically include compactness and smoother output, while challenges include sealing, lubrication, and thermal management.

In rotorcraft and propulsion, two-rotor configurations arise as twin-rotor systems, including coaxial arrangements where two rotors share the same axis and counter-rotate to cancel torque, and tandem designs with rotors fore and aft. These layouts aim to increase lift or control authority while maintaining a compact footprint and favorable stability characteristics.
