tuottajavastuulla
Tuottajavastuulla is a term used in Finnish environmental policy to describe the state of being subject to producer responsibility. Extended producer responsibility means that producers are obliged to consider the life cycle of their products and to manage their waste after use by consumers. In practice, this shifts some costs and responsibilities from municipalities to the producers who placed the product on the market.
The core obligation is to ensure proper collection, recycling and disposal of end-of-life products and packaging.
In Finland, tuottajavastuulla is implemented through national legislation that implements EU directives on extended producer responsibility.
