Tulolajina, also known as *N,N-Dimethyltryptamine* (DMT) or *N,N-Dimethyl-1H-indole-3-ethanamine*, is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in various plants and animals. It is classified as a tryptamine alkaloid, structurally similar to serotonin and melatonin, and is known for its potent psychoactive effects when ingested.

DMT is most commonly associated with the ayahuasca brew, a traditional Amazonian hallucinogenic drink prepared by combining the Banisteriopsis caapi vine (which contains harmala alkaloids like harmine and harmaline) with a DMT-rich plant such as Psychotria viridis. The harmala alkaloids act as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), allowing DMT to cross the blood-brain barrier and produce its effects when orally consumed.

When smoked, vaporized, or injected, DMT produces a rapid and intense psychedelic experience characterized by vivid visuals, profound emotional insights, and a sense of profound connection to the universe. The effects typically last between 15 to 30 minutes, followed by a short but intense "come down" period. Due to its short duration and potency, DMT is often referred to as the "businessman’s trip" for its quick yet profound nature.
