Trådbrytning or wiretapping is the act of intercepting, eavesdropping on, or listening in to communications that are transmitted over wires, such as telephone lines or internet connections. This can be done for various reasons, including surveillance, investigation, or gathering of information without the knowledge or consent of the parties involved.

In Scandinavia, particularly in Norway and Sweden, trådbrytning is a contentious issue with regards to laws and regulations. The notion of wiretapping is often associated with traditional, hardware-based methods of eavesdropping, however, in the digital age, trådbrytning more frequently involves intercepting communications over digital channels, such as emails, text messages, or online communications.
