Trommelskärmar, also known as drum screens or trommels, are a type of screening equipment used in various industries, particularly in mining, waste management, and agriculture. They consist of a rotating cylindrical drum with a perforated surface. Material is fed into one end of the rotating drum, and as the drum turns, the material tumbles and is screened by size. Smaller particles fall through the perforations (or mesh) and are collected below, while larger particles are carried to the other end of the drum and discharged.

The size of the perforations on the drum determines the screening capability. Trommelskärmar are effective for separating materials based on size, allowing for the sorting of gravel, sand, compost, and various other bulk materials. Their robust construction makes them suitable for processing abrasive or sticky substances. The angle of the drum and its rotation speed can be adjusted to control the residence time of the material within the screen, influencing the efficiency of the separation process.
