Trendlevel is a term used in time series analysis to denote the baseline level of a data series after accounting for its long-term trend. It refers to the level component around which the series fluctuates due to trend, seasonality, and irregular variation. In practice, trendlevel can be understood in two related ways: as the intercept or starting level of a linear trend, and more generally as the value of the trend component at a given reference time.

In a simple linear trend model, y_t = α + β t + ε_t, the trendlevel at time t is the predicted value of the trend component, α + β t. The constant term α is often described as the starting level or baseline, while β describes the rate of change over time. In more flexible trend extraction, such as time series decomposition or smoothing methods, the trendlevel refers to the estimated trend component T_t, which serves as the backbone of the series.

Estimation methods include linear regression to capture a straight-line trend, and smoothing or filtering approaches (for example, Hodrick-Prescott filter or STL decomposition) to obtain a smooth trend from nonlinear data. Trendlevel is used in analyzing macroeconomic indicators, climate data, and financial series to separate long-run movement from short-run fluctuations.
