Tredjepersons, or tredjeperson perspective, is a term used in linguistics and narrative art to describe a viewpoint that narrates events from outside of the speaker and any individual character. It contrasts with the first-person perspective (narration from "I") and the second-person perspective ("you").

In Norwegian usage, tredjeperson is expressed through third-person pronouns such as han (he), hun (she), det/den (it), and de (they), together with corresponding verb forms. When a story is told in the third person, the narrator can refer to characters by name or by these pronouns, rather than by the speaker’s own voice.

Narrative third-person can be further categorized as omniscient, where the narrator knows all characters' thoughts and events, or limited, where the narrator follows one character closely. The choice affects tone, reliability, and closeness to characters.

Third-person narration is common in novels, films, and video games, providing a flexible vantage that can shift between characters or stay with a single viewpoint. It can also employ free indirect discourse, blending character thoughts with external narration.
