A common schematic frames the rate of change in outcomes as dO/dt = F(E(t), T[E](t)), meaning the instantaneous change in outcomes depends on current exposure and its derived path. There is no single, canonical definition, and different authors offer varied operator constructions to reflect specific theoretical aims.
