Topograficzne is a Polish adjective related to topography, the science of describing the surface features of the Earth and their representation. In practice, it denotes information, methods or objects that depict the terrain and related elements.

In cartography and geographic information systems, topographic maps (mapy topograficzne) are the standard examples. They typically show the relief of the land through contour lines or shaded relief, as well as natural features such as rivers, lakes and vegetation, and man-made elements like roads, buildings and administrative boundaries. Topographic data can be used at different scales and for various purposes, from navigation to planning and analysis.

Topographic data encompass a range of content. Elevation values, contours, slope and aspect, hydrography, land cover and cultural infrastructure are common components. Data can originate from field surveys, aerial photography, satellite imagery, and remote sensing methods such as LiDAR. In digital form, these data are organized as digital terrain models (DTMs) or digital elevation models (DEMs), sometimes complemented by digital surface models (DSMs) and orthophotos.

Applications of topographic information are diverse. They support urban and regional planning, civil engineering and construction, environmental management, disaster risk assessment, archaeology, and outdoor recreation. Accurate topographic information is essential for modeling rainfall runoff, designing transportation networks, and assessing terrain stability.

Historically, topographic work evolved from manual contouring and hand-drawn maps to modern digitized datasets and geographic information systems. In Poland and many other countries, national geodetic and cartographic agencies curate and distribute topographic data to support public administration, research and development.
