titrert

Titrert is the Norwegian term for a sample or solution that has undergone titration. The verb titere means to perform titration, a quantitative chemical analysis used to determine the concentration of an unknown solution by reacting it with a solution of known concentration, the titrant.

In a typical titration, a burette contains the titrant and is used to add it gradually to the analyte solution in a flask. The reaction proceeds until an endpoint is reached, which is detected by an indicator’s color change, a stable pH, or a change in electrical potential measured by a pH meter or electrode. The volume of titrant at the endpoint, together with its concentration and the reaction stoichiometry, allows calculation of the analyte’s concentration. When the endpoint is achieved, the sample is titrert.

Common titration types include acid–base titration, redox titration, complexometric titration, and precipitation titration. The accuracy of titration depends on properly standardized titrants, correct sample preparation, and reliable endpoint detection. Calculations use the stoichiometric relationship between titrant and analyte, often summarized as n_titrant = n_analyte, with concentration equations adjusted for the reaction coefficients and volumes involved.

Applications span quality control, pharmaceuticals, environmental analysis, food chemistry, and laboratory research. A sample described as titrert reflects that its concentration or amount has been determined by titration, or that titration has been performed as part of its analysis.
