In biology, tissues are a level of organization between cells and organs. They are groups of similar cells that are specialized to perform a particular function. For example, muscle tissue is composed of muscle cells and is responsible for movement, while nervous tissue, made of neurons and glial cells, transmits signals throughout the body.
