Teataan is a fictional coastal city and the administrative center of Teataan Province in the archipelago of Alara. It lies on the northern shore of the mainland island and faces the Great Sea, protected by two natural harbours that have long anchored its fishing fleets and trading ships. The climate is maritime temperate, with mild summers and wet winters.

Teataan’s origins lie in a medieval trading canton that grew into a regional hub during the Age of Waves. It became the provincial capital in the early 18th century and was rebuilt after the Great Storm of 1849. The city expanded in the early 20th century through the introduction of rail links and the modernization of its waterfront.

As of the last census, Teataan’s urban area is home to roughly 28,000 residents. The population is predominantly Teataanian, with minorities drawn from surrounding rural districts and migrant workers. Teataan is officially bilingual, with Teataan and a common trade language in daily use.

The economy centers on fishing, fish processing, and small-scale shipbuilding, complemented by growing tourism, especially in the harbor district and historic fort. The city hosts a regional university campus and a monthly arts market that attract visitors from neighboring towns.

Culturally, Teataan is known for its Tidefestival, a celebration of seafaring and harvest that features songs, boat races, and a riverside market. Notable landmarks include Hartline Fort, Tidewatch Lighthouse, and the Market of Dawn.
