tasapainoreaktioista
Tasapainoreaktio (Finnish: tasapainoreaktio) refers to a chemical reaction that proceeds in both the forward and reverse directions at equal rates, reaching a state in which the concentrations of reactants and products remain constant over time. At this equilibrium, the system has maximized its entropy while obeying the conservation of mass and energy. The quantitative description of a homogeneous equilibrium is given by the equilibrium constant, K, which is expressed in terms of the product of the activities (or concentrations for dilute solutions) of the products divided by the activities of the reactants, each raised to the power of their stoichiometric coefficients.
The approach to equilibrium can be analyzed kinetically: a reaction moves toward equilibrium when the net reaction
Le Chatelier’s principle qualitatively predicts how changes in temperature, pressure, or concentration shift the position of equilibrium.
Industrial processes such as ammonia synthesis, CO₂ capture, and esterification rely on controlling equilibrium conditions through
