Taloussektorins are a hypothetical family of modular RNA-based regulatory elements designed to enable programmable control of gene expression in cells. The concept emerges from discussions in synthetic biology about scalable, multi-input regulators that can operate across different host organisms.

Each taloussektorin comprises a compact RNA scaffold that presents aptamer or riboswitch motifs and can interact with regulatory proteins, ribosomes, or RNA polymerase to influence transcription or translation. Ligand binding or environmental cues induce conformational changes that alter access to promoter or ribosome-binding sites, allowing logic-like integration of signals.

Status and scope: Taloussektorins are not part of established biology and have not been widely adopted as a formal class in primary literature. They appear mainly in conceptual discussions and speculative reviews as an illustrative model for modular RNA regulators; there is no standardized nomenclature yet.
