Süttimisenergia, engl. ignition energy, is the minimum energy input required to start combustion of a flammable mixture. It is most commonly discussed as the minimum ignition energy (MIE). MIE applies to mixtures of flammable gases or vapors in air, and to combustible dust clouds, and is a critical parameter in explosion safety and risk assessment.
