Szimfízisdisszociációnak is a Hungarian term that translates to "symphysis dissociation" in English. It refers to a condition where the joint between two bones, specifically the pubic symphysis, becomes separated or misaligned. This can occur during pregnancy or childbirth due to hormonal changes that relax the ligaments supporting the symphysis, or due to physical trauma.

The pubic symphysis is a cartilaginous joint located at the front of the pelvis, connecting the left and right pubic bones. During pregnancy, the hormone relaxin increases ligament laxity throughout the body, including at the pubic symphysis, to allow for greater flexibility during birth. In some cases, this separation can become excessive, leading to pain, instability, and difficulty walking.

Symptoms of symphysis dissociation can include sharp pain in the pubic area, a clicking or popping sensation, and pain that radiates to the back, hips, or thighs. The severity of symptoms can vary, ranging from mild discomfort to debilitating pain that significantly impacts mobility.
