Syöksypommittajajen is a Finnish term that translates to "dive bombers." This refers to a type of military aircraft that is used for the role of dive bombing. Dive bombing is an aerial attack method in which the aircraft dives steeply towards its target before releasing its bomb. The steep angle of the dive allows for greater accuracy and a higher release speed, which can increase the effectiveness of the bomb.

Dive bombers were particularly prominent during World War II. Aircraft designed for this role often had robust construction to withstand the stresses of a dive, as well as features like dive brakes to control their speed and angle. Famous examples of dive bombers include the German Junkers Ju 87 Stuka, the American Douglas SBD Dauntless, and the British Fairey Swordfish, although the latter was a torpedo bomber that also performed dive bombing.
