Synovialdominant is a term used to describe a pattern of joint involvement in certain inflammatory conditions, particularly rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathies. It refers to a process where inflammation primarily affects the synovium, the membrane that lines the joint capsule. This synovial inflammation, known as synovitis, leads to thickening of the synovial lining and the production of excess synovial fluid, causing joint swelling and pain. In synovialdominant disease, this process is the most prominent feature, distinguishing it from other patterns of joint involvement.
