Synaptisella is a genus of marine hydrozoans belonging to the order Anthoathecata and the family Companulariidae. These hydrozoans are colonial organisms, meaning that what appears as a single individual is actually a collection of genetically identical zooids specialized for different functions. The colony structure is typically erect and branching, often forming a feathery or bushy appearance. They are commonly found attached to substrates such as rocks, algae, or other invertebrates in a variety of marine environments.

The individual zooids within a Synaptisella colony are dimorphic, consisting of hydranths and gonothecae. Hydranths are the feeding zooids, possessing a mouth and tentacles used for capturing prey. Gonothecae are reproductive zooids that produce medusae, although in many species the medusae are reduced or absent, with reproduction occurring directly within the gonotheca. The colony is supported by a chitinous exoskeleton called the perisarc, which encases the individual zooids.

Synaptisella species are filter feeders, consuming planktonic organisms. Their distribution is global, with many species found in temperate and tropical waters. Like other hydrozoans, they play a role in marine ecosystems as both prey and habitat modifiers. Identification of species within the genus often relies on morphological characteristics of the colony, perisarc, and reproductive structures.
