suurreljeese
Suurreljeese is a Finnish term referring to a specific type of relief sculpture where the sculpted elements project significantly from the background, often more than half of their natural depth. This contrasts with bas-relief (matala reljeefi) where the projection is shallow, and high-relief (korkea reljeefi) where the projection is very deep, sometimes almost in the round. Suurreljeese falls in between these two, offering a substantial three-dimensional effect without fully detaching the sculpted forms from the base.
