suolakatkoksista
Suolakatkoksista, known in English as intestinal obstruction, refers to a blockage in the small or large intestine that prevents the normal passage of chyme and gas. This condition can range from a partial blockage, where some material can still pass, to a complete obstruction, which is a medical emergency. The causes of intestinal obstruction are varied and can include internal factors such as adhesions (scar tissue from previous surgery), hernias, tumors, or inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease. External compression from masses outside the bowel can also lead to obstruction.
Symptoms typically include abdominal pain, which is often cramping and intermittent, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distension.
