styreeniasetaattikumi
Styreeniasetaattikumi is a proprietary class of synthetic rubber developed in the mid‑twentieth century for high‑performance sealing applications. The material is composed primarily of styrene–butadiene copolymer (SBR) embedded with a phenolic resin modifier called “aseta” and a rubberized additive known as “kumi” (Finnish for rubber). The resulting polymer blend offers a balance of hardening stability, chemical resistance, and elasticity that is superior to conventional SBR for use in automotive gaskets, aerospace seals, and industrial pumps.
The development of styreeniasetaattikumi began at the Helsinki Institute of Materials Science in 1964 as a
Key performance characteristics of styreeniasetaattikumi include a tensile strength of 6.5 MPa, an elongation at break of
Commercial production of styreeniasetaattikumi is largely concentrated in Finland, Sweden, and parts of Eastern Europe, where
