Spouwanker is a type of fastening device used in the construction of cavity walls to secure fixtures to the wall. A spouwmuur consists of two masonry leaves with a hollow cavity between them, and a spouwanker is designed to transfer load from the installed object through or around the hollow space into the surrounding masonry. Installation considerations include selecting the correct size and type for the wall material and load, drilling through the outer leaf to reach the cavity, and ensuring the anchor will engage solid masonry where required. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and applicable building standards, avoid overloading the anchor, and verify secure fixation after installation.
