splácím

Splácím is the first-person present tense form of the Czech verb splácet, meaning to pay back a debt in installments or to gradually amortize a loan or obligation. The term is used in everyday language as well as in banking, finance, and contractual contexts to describe an ongoing process of reducing indebtedness.

The verb typically accompanies objects such as dluh (debt), úvěr (loan), hypotéka (mortgage), kreditní karta (credit card), or leasing. It is often paired with time expressions like každý měsíc (every month) or pravidelně (regularly). Examples include: „Splácím dluh každý měsíc.“ „Splácím hypotéku už pět let.“ „Právě teď splácím menší částku kvůli úsporám.“ The related noun form „splátka“ denotes an individual installment payment, and „splácení“ refers to the act of paying in installments.

A related, but aspectually different verb is splatit, the perfective counterpart of splácet. While splácet describes an ongoing process, splatit emphasizes completion of the repayment, often used in finite statements such as „Splatím dluh“ (I will pay off the debt) or „Splatím dluh příští měsíc.“ The vocabulary around this concept also includes terms like splátkové kalendáře (installment calendars) and splátkové plány (payment plans).
