Spermagrødeanalyse, often referred to as semen analysis or sperm count test, is a laboratory test that measures the quantity and quality of sperm in a man's ejaculate. It is a crucial diagnostic tool in the evaluation of male infertility and can also be used to confirm the success of a vasectomy.

The analysis typically involves several parameters. The volume of ejaculate is measured, which is normally between 1.5 and 5 milliliters. Sperm concentration, or the number of sperm per milliliter of semen, is also assessed. A normal concentration is generally considered to be above 15 million sperm per milliliter. Motility, the ability of sperm to move properly, is another key factor. At least 40% of sperm should be motile, with at least 30% showing progressive motility (moving forward). Morphology, the shape and structure of the sperm, is also examined. A normal percentage of normally shaped sperm is usually over 4%.

Other assessments may include the presence of white blood cells, which can indicate infection, and the pH of the semen. The sample is usually collected after a period of sexual abstinence of 2 to 5 days. It is important that the sample is collected properly and delivered to the laboratory promptly, typically within one hour of collection, to ensure accurate results.
