Theuderic, often referred to as Theuderic I or Theodoric I, was a Frankish king and a significant figure in the early Merovingian dynasty. He was the eldest son of Clovis I, the founder of the Frankish kingdom, and Clotilde. Upon his father's death in 511 CE, the Frankish realm was divided among Clovis's four sons, and Theuderic inherited the largest portion, with his capital at Metz.

Theuderic's reign was marked by a series of military campaigns and territorial expansions. He engaged in frequent warfare against neighboring Germanic tribes, including the Thuringians and the Saxons, often in alliance with his brothers. These campaigns were aimed at consolidating Frankish power and extending their influence. He also played a role in the Frankish conquest of Burgundy.

His rule was characterized by both military success and a degree of internal stability within his territory. He maintained a court and administered justice, contributing to the development of the nascent Frankish state. Theuderic was married and fathered several children, including his successor, Theudebert I, who would further expand the kingdom. Theuderic died in 533 or 534 CE, leaving behind a strengthened kingdom and a legacy as one of Clovis's most capable sons.
