smakslaget
Smakslaget, often translated as "taste bud," is a sensory receptor located on the tongue, roof of the mouth, and throat that enables the perception of taste. These specialized cells are organized into clusters called taste buds, which are embedded within papillae, the small bumps visible on the tongue's surface. Each taste bud contains a variety of taste receptor cells, each sensitive to one of the five basic tastes: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami.
When food or drink comes into contact with the tongue, dissolved molecules interact with these receptor cells.
The sensitivity of taste buds can vary between individuals due to genetic factors and can also change
