Skärmarprinting, also known as screen printing or serigraphy, is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. A fill blade or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil to apply a layer of ink that penetrates the mesh openings onto a substrate. When the substrate is an appropriate material, the ink is transferred through the stencil.

The process typically involves preparing a screen with a stencil. This stencil can be created photographically for detailed images or cut manually for simpler designs. The screen is then placed on top of the material to be printed, such as fabric, paper, or plastic. Ink is poured onto the screen, and a squeegee is used to pull the ink across the stencil. This forces the ink through the open areas of the stencil onto the substrate below. For multi-color prints, separate screens are prepared and used for each color, requiring precise alignment.

It is widely used for printing on a variety of surfaces, including textiles (t-shirts, posters), ceramics, glass, and industrial components.
