Singletanks are a type of dive cylinder used in scuba diving. They are characterized by their single, un-tethered design, as opposed to the dual-cylinder setups often seen in technical diving. These tanks are typically made from aluminum or steel and come in various sizes, measured by their internal volume in liters or cubic feet. The most common sizes for recreational diving are 7-liter, 10-liter, 12-liter, and 15-liter.

The primary function of a singletank is to store compressed breathing gas, usually air, for a diver to breathe underwater. The tank is filled with a regulator and a filling station, and the pressure inside can range from 200 bar (3000 psi) to 300 bar (4500 psi) depending on the tank and filling source. A valve at the top of the tank controls the flow of gas. This valve can be a yoke or DIN fitting, which connects to the diver's first stage regulator.

Singletanks are commonly used for recreational diving due to their simplicity, lighter weight compared to twinsets, and ease of handling. They are typically worn on the diver's back, secured by a backpack or integrated into a BCD (Buoyancy Control Device). The choice of singletank size often depends on the diver's experience level, the planned dive profile, water conditions, and personal breathing rate. A larger tank will provide a longer dive time at a given depth.
