sidospituudet
Sidospituudet is a Finnish term that translates roughly to “side lengths.” In mathematics, science, and engineering it denotes the lengths of the straight edges of a geometric figure, such as a polygon or polyhedron. The sidospituudet determine size and influence shape in many contexts; for a polygon with sides s1, s2, ..., sn, the perimeter is the sum of the sidospituudet. In a triangle, the three sidospituudet satisfy the triangle inequality and, with height or an angle, determine the area (via methods such as Heron’s formula or coordinate approaches). In polyhedra, sidospituudet describe edge lengths on the faces.
In practical use, sidospituudet appear in construction drawings, architectural models, and computer graphics as data for
Notes: the term’s exact spelling and usage vary; some writers use sidospituudet or sidosetäisyydet to refer
