Common side effects of sildenafil include headache, flushing, indigestion, and nasal congestion. Serious side effects are rare but can include priapism (prolonged and painful erection) and sudden vision loss or loss of consciousness, which may be signs of a serious condition called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
