serpentiniet
Serpentinite is a rock formed by the hydration and metamorphic transformation of ultramafic igneous rocks, primarily peridotites. This process, known as serpentinization, typically occurs deep within the Earth's mantle or at mid-ocean ridges where water is present. The characteristic green to greenish-black color of serpentinite is due to the presence of serpentine group minerals, such as antigorite, chrysotile, and lizardite. These minerals are hydrated magnesium silicates.
The formation of serpentinite involves a significant change in the mineralogy and physical properties of the
Serpentinite can host a variety of accessory minerals, including magnetite, chromite, and sometimes economically valuable deposits
