serialistische
Serialistische (often rendered in English as serialist) refers to a method of musical composition that uses serialism, a systematic approach that orders musical parameters according to a fixed series. The core concept is the tone row, a sequence of the twelve pitch classes that governs pitch material. Composers transform the row through operations such as prime (P), inversion (I), retrograde (R), and retrograde inversion (RI). The row, or its transformations, may be used in separate voices or simultaneously across parts. In many works, rhythm, dynamics, articulation, and timbre are also subjected to serial organization, a development known as total or integral serialism.
