Searite is a historic or obsolete mineral name that is not recognized as a distinct mineral species by the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) or by major modern mineral databases. The term has appeared in older mineralogical literature as a generic label for opaque silicate-rich materials with uncertain composition.

Because the descriptions attached to searite varied between sources, no standardized chemical formula or crystal structure ever became accepted, and the name fell out of use as more diagnostic nomenclature became standard. In some cases, searite has been conflated with searlesite, a separate mineral associated with the Searles Lake region, or with other silicate minerals; researchers should verify the exact identity by cross-referencing primary descriptions in historical texts.
