Sarnasuslik is a type of ground squirrel found in Central Asia. It is scientifically known as Spermophilus xanthophtalmus. The species is characterized by its relatively small size and sandy brown fur, which provides camouflage against the arid environments it inhabits. A distinctive feature is the reddish-brown ring around its eyes, which gives it its scientific name, "xanthophtalmus" meaning yellow-eyed.

These animals are primarily diurnal and spend a significant portion of their time foraging for seeds, grasses, and other plant matter. They are also known to consume insects occasionally. Sarnasusliks are social creatures and live in colonies, often digging complex burrow systems that serve as protection from predators and extreme weather conditions. They are known to hibernate during the colder months, entering a state of torpor to conserve energy when food sources are scarce.
