sapot
Sapot, also known as sapota or chico, is a tropical fruit native to southern Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. It belongs to the family Sapotaceae and is scientifically classified as Manilkara zapota. The fruit is round to oval in shape, typically measuring 5-10 cm in diameter, with a rough, brown skin that is often compared to that of a kiwi. The flesh inside is soft, granular, and sweet, with a flavor profile that can range from brown sugar to pear or caramel. It contains several small, black, inedible seeds.
Sapot is primarily eaten fresh. Its sweetness makes it a popular ingredient in desserts, smoothies, and milkshakes.
