It is not recognized in real-world anatomy and is typically described as a fictional or theoretical construct for exploring sensorimotor integration.

In proposed models, a sanseorgan consists of a cluster of multimodal receptor cells—such as chemoreceptors, mechanoreceptors, and proprioceptors—embedded in superficial tissue or at a neural interface. It would connect via afferent pathways to a central processing region, allowing rapid synthesis of environmental gradients, physiological condition, and social signals.
