Sünnitamine, also known as childbirth or labor, is the process by which a fetus is expelled from the uterus into the outside world. It typically begins with uterine contractions, which gradually dilate the cervix to allow the baby to pass through. This process is usually divided into three stages. The first stage involves labor and dilation of the cervix. The second stage is the expulsion of the baby from the uterus. The third stage is the delivery of the placenta.

There are various methods of childbirth, including vaginal delivery and Cesarean section. Vaginal delivery can be unassisted or may involve medical interventions such as induction of labor, pain relief medications (epidural, analgesics), or operative assistance like forceps or vacuum extraction. A Cesarean section, or C-section, is a surgical procedure where the baby is delivered through incisions in the mother's abdomen and uterus. This is usually performed when a vaginal delivery is considered risky for the mother or baby.

The duration and intensity of labor can vary significantly among individuals. Factors such as the mother's health, previous childbirth experiences, and the baby's position can influence the process. After birth, the mother's body undergoes a period of recovery known as the postpartum period, during which the uterus returns to its normal size and hormonal changes occur.
