Rörelsesystem is a Swedish term that translates to "motor system" or "movement system" in English. It encompasses all the biological components that enable an organism to move. This complex system is primarily composed of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.

The musculoskeletal system provides the structural framework and the means for generating force. It includes bones, which act as levers and provide support; muscles, which contract to produce movement; tendons, which connect muscles to bones; and ligaments, which connect bones to other bones, stabilizing joints. The interaction of these components allows for a wide range of motion, from fine motor skills to gross motor activities.

The nervous system, specifically the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system, controls and coordinates all voluntary and involuntary movements. The brain initiates and plans movements, while the spinal cord transmits signals between the brain and the muscles. Motor neurons carry these signals from the nervous system to the muscles, causing them to contract and generate movement. Sensory neurons provide feedback to the nervous system about the position and movement of the body, allowing for adjustments and smooth coordination.
