Röhisä is a small settlement situated in the northern part of the municipality of Kurikka, within the region of Southern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Its estimated population is approximately 40 residents, most of whom are engaged in agricultural activities and participate in the broader community of the surrounding rural area. The settlement lies on a gentle plateau surrounding the river Ounistakanlahti, providing fertile soil that has historically supported dairy farming, grain cultivation, and modest forestry operations.

Geographically, Röhisä is located about 12 kilometres east of the municipal centre of Kurikka and roughly 45 kilometres north of the regional hub of Seinäjoki. The area is characterized by a mix of deciduous forest, particularly birch and pine, interspersed with meadowlands that are used for pasture during the growing season. The climate is typical of southern Finland, with cold, snowy winters and mild, relatively humid summers.

Röhisä first appears in written records in the late 18th century as a collection of homesteads belonging to the larger Kurikka estate. During the 19th century, the settlement expanded modestly with the construction of a small schoolhouse and a cooperative dairy processing facility. After Finnish independence in 1917, Röhisä, like many rural communities, experienced population decline as younger residents migrated to urban centres for employment. In recent decades, initiatives to promote agritourism and preserve traditional crafts have helped maintain a modest local economy and a sense of communal heritage. The settlement’s traditional summer festival, held every July, celebrates local folklore, music, and regional cuisine, drawing visitors from neighbouring villages and reinforcing Röhisä’s cultural identity.
