Ráðhúsið is the Icelandic term for the city hall, the building that houses the administrative offices and the legislative body of a municipality. The word combines ráð, meaning council or governance, with hús, meaning house, and the definite form rádhúsið denotes “the city hall.”
In most Icelandic municipalities, ráðhúsið serves as the seat of the municipal council and the mayor’s office.
